Questions people ask
+How do I add hours and minutes?
Add the hours and the minutes separately, then turn every 60 minutes into an hour. 8:56 plus 0:46 is 8 hours and 102 minutes, which is 9:42.
+How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 30 minutes is 0.5 hours, so 7:30 is 7.5 hours; 20 minutes is 0.33 hours, so 7:20 is 7.33.
+How do I work out hours worked between two times?
Subtract the start from the end, then take off any unpaid break. 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM is 4 hours 30 minutes. If the shift runs past midnight, add 24 hours to the end time first: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is 8 hours.
+Should breaks come off my hours?
Unpaid breaks come off; paid breaks count as time worked. Which breaks are paid depends on your province’s employment standards and your employer.
